WILLIAM LANGLEY (British, 1852-1922) TWO WORKS: YOUNG MAIDENS IN LANDSCAPE. Both identically housed in period gesso decorated frames with gilt liners. Both oil on canvas scenes depicting the same girl in different settings. In one painting she is seen with lute over shoulder and standing holding onto a wood fence with water, flowers and tree background. The other showing her leaning against a building with a shepherd’s crook with flower beside her and building with blue and pink sky. Both are signed “William Langley”. One frame having original label from “George Knight”. SIZE: 24” x 12”. CONDITION: One has been relined. Both have some inpainting. Frames have minor gesso loss. Good. 9-73883 (1,000-1,500)
