SIX DARK BLUE STAFFORDSHIRE HISTORICAL PITCHERS AND CREAMERS. Each transfer-decorated in blue, comprising: 1) 7″ pitcher, America and Independence series, patriotic design with female figure holding portrait of Washington, opposing female figure with Liberty Cap and banner labeled “America and Independence”, centering a view of a building with two wings, water in foreground; for nearly identical example see Historical Staffordshire, An Illustrated Check-List by David and Linda Arman, p.17, fig. 13b. 2) 6″ pitcher, “Lafayette at Franklin’s Tomb”, probably unmarked(?) Enoch Wood & Sons, Fig. 190-A/C, p.80. 3) 6-1/2″ blue transfer pitcher with floral border, “The Boston Statehouse” with opposing view of New York City Hall, attributed to Joseph Stubbs; see American Historical Views on Staffordshire China by Ellouise Baker Larsen, 3rd edition, p.117, fig. 255. 4) 5″ blue and white milk pitcher or creamer, unmarked, “The Boston Statehouse”, depicting panoramic view of the Boston Statehouse flanked by buildings. 5) 5-3/4″ dark blue cream pitcher, unmarked, “Washington Standing at His Tomb with Scroll”. 6) 5-1/2″ dark blue gravy boat, unmarked, probably Clews, “Landing of General Lafayette at Castle Garden, New York, 16 August 1824”. SIZE: As noted above. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Geraldine Gaba, Scottsdale, AZ. CONDITION: 1) Fair with extensive repair to base, any marks obliterated. 2) Plugged hole in base. 3) Star crack in base, circumference crack at midpoint. 4) Good overall with base rim chip. 5) Fair with spider crack on base, hairline vertical crack at handle through base. 6) Overall good with crazing and discoloration to ground. 9-94829 (2,000-3,000)
