*SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 NRA MUSKET. Cal. 30 Gov. 06. SN 94918. Scarce NRA musket with 24” rnd bbl, pedestal front sight with Krag Buffington style rear sight, full-length forearm with grasping grooves and half-length hand guard. It has a Krag style split upper band with bayonet lug and stacking swivel and a middle band with sling swivel. The stock is straight grain walnut with straight grip and smooth steel, rounded toe buttplate. Accompanied by a photocopy of the file card from the Winchester Repeating Arms Museum identifying this musket as tag #1210 and indicating that it was assembled September 1916. Also accompanied by an original Winchester knife bayonet with 15-7/8” bright blade with walnut handle scales, and its original metal scabbard with leather frog. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, as new, probably unfired. Retaining virtually all its original factory finish to both metal and wood with some light surface etching on the top of the bolt, over the chamber area, back edge of the hammer and top tang, otherwise the blue is brilliant and the wood is extremely fine with a large bruise on the right wrist and a smaller one on the forearm. Brilliant shiny bore. Bayonet appears new retaining virtually all of its bright original finish. Scabbard retains about 75% flaked blue and the frog has crackled finish with some slight losses. 4-52440 JR236 (5,000-10,000)
