*VERY RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 LEVER ACTION MUSKET. Cal. 6.5 mm. SN 364062. Probably an experimental caliber in the musket configuration. This musket appears to be standard otherwise with 28” rnd bbl, pedestal front sight, standard musket ladder rear sight and stripper clip loading brackets on the receiver. The wood is straight grain walnut with full-length forearm with grasping grooves and short hand guard. It has Krag style split upper band with bayonet lug and stacking swivel and a metal band with sling swivel. There is a corresponding musket swivel base on the buttstock, missing the swivel. It has a musket buttplate with trap. Accompanied by an original Winchester knife bayonet with 15-¾” bright blade and walnut grip scales. It is in its original blue metal scabbard with leather frog. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, as new, possibly unfired. Retaining virtually all its original factory finish to both metal and wood. Does not appear to have ever been loaded. There is a small rub on the right side of the receiver and another on each side of the magazine box with a small-flaked area on the magazine box, otherwise as new. Bayonet is as new retaining virtually all of its bright factory finish, overall. 4-52441 JR237 (7,500-15,000)
