MARTIALLY MARKED CAVALRY MODEL COLT SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Colt. Fine 7-1/2” revolver with blued barrel, cased colored frame and one-piece wood grips. It has one line barrel address with three lines of patents and small “US” on the left side of the frame below the cylinder. The grips have the outline of a cartouche on each side and the small parts have inspector’s marks. The barrel and frame are numbered 115538, the trigger guard 116613 and the backstrap 94800, and the cylinder 1737. This apparently was an 1893 refurbished Colt, accompanied by a Colt factory letter and Kopec letter regarding the rarity of this variation. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. The barrel retains about 80% strong bright blue as restored. The barrel address is slightly thin, but completely legible. The frame retains traces of silvered case colors being mostly an even gray patina. The trigger guard retains 85-90% restored blue and the backstrap about 70% thin blue. The grips are fine with a tiny chip at the right toe, retaining most of a fine refinish. One of the frame screws is slightly battered and may be an old replacement. Bright shiny bore, good mechanics. 4-49008 JR786 (6,000-10,000)
