RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 FLAT SIDE MUSKET. Cal. 30 US (30-40). SN 1481. Extremely rare musket with 28” tapered rnd bbl, German silver pedestal front sight, and completely unmarked musket rear sight. It has flat side receiver with solid lever and full-length forearm with grasping grooves and two bands with nose cap and straight stock. It has musket buttplate with trap containing a cord and brass pull through with brush on one end. It has musket swivels on the buttstock and upper band. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this musket and indicating shipment on October 26, 1896 and return for repair in January 1907. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, as new. Retains virtually all of its fine original factory finish to both metal and wood. Receiver has a couple of minor scratches and a few small-flaked spots. Trigger plate and hammer retain virtually all their brilliant case colors. Wood has the original raised grain feel and there appears to be factory grease still in the action and bore. 4-52439 JR235 (7,500-15,000)
