LOT OF TWO UNDERHAMMER PERCUSSION PISTOLS. (1) D.H. Hilliard Target Pistol. Cal. 36. SN 166. Fine target pistol with 12″ heavy oct to rnd rifled bbl, globe front sight with screw adjustable rear sight mounted at the very rear of the engraved top tang. The left top flat has the maker’s name, over-stamped “RB Yeaton / Cornish / N.H.” It is mounted in a fine 1-pc walnut stock with rounded sides, brass escutcheons with a brass bottom plate and rear cap. With iron trigger guard, it has an angled, rounded grip with ball shaped bottom. The bottom flat of the bbl, just in front of the nipple, is stamped “2 — 3-3/8″ and the serial number is just behind the nipple and also on the rear sight. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains about 40-50% thin orig brown. Top strap has been cleaned nearly bright. Stock is sound and retains about 80% orig varnish. Mechanics are fine. Strong bright bore with light pitting. (2) Looks like a Delaney. Cal. 46. SN 48. Small boot pistol with 5-7/8” rifled oct bbl, fixed sights, long top tang and short bottom tang, no trigger guard, 1-pc bag shaped walnut grip. CONDITION: About good. Metal is cleaned with file marks remaining. Moderate to heavy pitting on the bbl and backstrap. Stock is sound with good patina. Good mechanics with chipped hammer nose.
