CASED PAIR OF WESTLEY RICHARDS TRAVELER’S PISTOLS. Cal. About 65. NSN. Fine brace of pistols with 8” damascus oct bbls with maker’s name on top flat. They have a brass bead front sight with a fixed rear sight mounted to breech plug. Tangs & breech plugs are beautifully engraved. They have short, slightly curved lockplates with flat side, reinforced hammers, both nicely engraved. They have sliding safeties with roller frizzens, scalloped pans & shields with platinum lined flash holes. Simple trigger guards are nicely engraved. They have lightly decorated iron nose pipes with captive rammers. They are mounted in nicely figured 1-pc stocks with raised teardrop side panels & rnd-butt grips with flat checkering. Accompanied by a green, baize lined, oak casing, probably not for these pistols, compartment for pistols & other implements, but have only a brass tipped rammer & an iron tipped worm. Both have ebony handles. Also included is a tiny, smooth, Dixon style bag flask, probably not for this set. Inside lid is label for “EDWARD LONDON, / GUNMAKER / 51 LONDON WALL, LONDON”. CONDITION: Pistols are extremely fine, nearly new. With both being in about identical condition. They retain most of their orig maker’s finish with fine brown Damascus pattern & case hardened lockplates, hammers & top tangs. Stocks are sound with light handling & use marks, mostly on left sides and retain virtually all of their orig varnish. Trigger guards & nose pipes retain most of their orig blue with one pistol being a little stronger than the other. Case has a repaired lid & is moderately soiled & faded inside with soil, stain & moderate to heavy storage marks on outside, with an old refinish. Interior has probably been reconfigured for these pistols. Flask retains traces of orig finish with a dent & some pitting. Ramrod handle has a gouge, otherwise tools are fine. Wm.
