SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL #3 TARGET REVOLVER. Cal. 22. Blued finish, 6-1/2” keyhole ribbed bbl, 1-line address, target sights and 2-pc monogrammed hard rubber grips that appear to be reproduction. Serial number is followed by a star indicating factory refinish and the left side of the grip frame has the date “9 35”, apparently the date of refinish. Cylinder and bbl are cleverly sleeved and reworked to accommodate a smaller caliber, as is the hammer nose. Firing pin hole in the frame has been plugged and a slot cut for the rim fire hammer nose. SN 2588. CONDITION: Very good. The current finish does not appear to be factory. Retains 96-98% dark, heavy blue with some rounded edges and the logo on the right side of the frame very thin. Bore is dark with some heavy pitting, action is fine but difficult to break open. Grips are fine. 4-48029 JR123 (Anderson Collection) (500-1,500)
