SAMUEL FINLEY MORSE BADGER (American, 1873-1919) SHIP PORTRAIT OF THE E.I. WHITE. Outstanding oil on canvas ship portrait of the white hulled schooner E I White. The ship is seen sailing right to left with three-masts in full sail. The back mast with American flag, center with ship name. Ship’s name is on the bow and stern sections. Nine men aboard. Ship sails in a blue wavy sea and off the port bow is a lighthouse with connected buildings atop sandy cliffs. Signed lower left “SFM Badger 96”. Also signed on back of canvas the same. Housed in its original gilt molded wood frame. PROVENANCE: From a Downeast Maine home. SIZE: 22” x 36”. CONDITION: Very good, untouched original condition. 9-70751 (12,000-18,000)
