SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL#3 TARGET REVOLVER. Cal. 38-44. Blued finish, 6-1/2” keyhole ribbed bbl, target front sight and adjustable rear sight and 2-pc monogrammed hard rubber grips. Serial number is followed by a star indicating factory refinish. Left side of the grip frame under the grip is marked with a diamond and the date “1 27”, apparently when this revolver was refinished. Shipped in February of 1898. SN 3239. CONDITION: Very fine as refinished. Retains about 97% strong bright blue with scattered light surface rust and some minor muzzle and edge wear and a line around the cylinder. Hammer and trigger guard are mostly a silver patina. All matching except the grips which are unnumbered. Grips have faded to a light chocolate brown. Bore is strong but frosty, fine mechanics. 4-47972 JR71 (Anderson Collection) (1,000-2,000)
