RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 LEVER ACTION MUSKET. Cal. 44 WCF SN 83353 Standard grade musket with 30” rnd bbl, square base front sight/ bayonet lug and musket ladder rear sight. Receiver has, what appears to be, a Siamese military proof mark over the chamber area. It has a full-length forearm and magazine tube with three bands and straight stock with carbine style buttplate with trap. The Siamese cartouche is stamped three times on the left side of the wrist and there are four Siamese characters on the right side of the buttstock. Accompanied by Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this musket as having been shipped November 19, 1897 with thirty other arms to Order #20509. CONDITION: Good. No original finish remains, the metal being a mottled silver-brown patina with some minor scattered light rust and evidence of old cleaning on receiver. Forearm has a hairline at the receiver, otherwise the wood is sound with a very dark oiled patina and usual handling, storage and use marks and dings. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with a ring toward the chamber end and scattered light pitting. 4-52417 JR213 (2,500-5,000)
