*WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 TRAPPER CARBINE. Cal. 44 WCF. SN 237383. Rare trapper carbine with 14” bbl, full magazine, uncheckered wood, short forearm with straight stock and carbine buttplate. It has German silver front sight blade in a square base and carbine ladder rear sight with a staple and ring in the left side of the receiver. Accompanied by Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this carbine as having been shipped March 3, 1904 with four other Model 1892s to Order #16235. Also accompanies is an ATF letter dated December 22, 1997 exempting this carbine under the provisions of the National Firearms Act and declaring it a curio and relic. CONDITION: About good. Metal retains an even, dark brown patina with light rust pitting and a patch of crusty rust on the magazine tube. Receiver has a couple of replaced screws. Stock has crack at the left side of tang and a chip missing from right side and the forearm has a crack near the tip. Both show heavy wear with usual handling and use marks and a couple of gouges in the buttstock. Mechanics are fine, hammer spring is weak. Bore is strong with good shine and scattered pitting. 4-52407 JR206 (1,500-2,500)
