BREVETTE ALLIN STYLE TRAPDOOR RIFLE. Cal. appears to be 45-70. NSN. Usual trapdoor configuration with 32-1/2″ oct to rnd bbl with three wide lands & grooves, two bands with square base front sight/bayonet lug and Belgian style reverse mounted musket ladder rear sight. The receiver has a faceted front ring with Allin style breechblock and a spring-loaded ejector. The lockplate is “1864” dated Springfield with a replacement or modified hammer and the stock and hardware are Springfield. It has a solid head ramrod. The breechblock has two Belgian proofs. No other marks were visible. CONDITION: Fine. Overall retains a smooth dark brown patina with some light fine surface rust on the receiver, breechblock & lockplate. Stock has two hairlines back of the lockplate and one in front otherwise the wood is sound with numerous moderate to heavy nicks, dings & scratches with an old dark patina.
