JOSEPH HONORE MAXIME PELLEGRIN (French, 1773-1869) SHIP PORTRAIT OF THE “CHARLES EDMONDSON”. Outstanding watercolor ship portrait shows the “Charles Edmondson” sailing left to right with partial sails up flying the U.S. flag off the back and two other flags off both masts. Eleven men aboard. Black and white hull with gun windows. There is another ship off the bow and the Port of Marseilles off the stern. Bottom margin has a painted legend “Chs. Edmondson of N. Orleans Chs. Richardson Master-1838”. Signed lower right “Hre. Pellegrin a Marseille 1838”. Housed in a gilt oak decorated frame. SIGHT SIZE: 17” x 23”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-71905 (7,000-10,000)
