*WESTLEY RICHARDS MAUSER BOLT ACTION SPORTING RIFLE. SN 40864. Cal. .318. The 26″ bbl have a high block front sight, sling swivel eye, and express sight with one standing, two folding, and ladder sight out to 1200 yards; and are marked “WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. LONDON” on top, and have Westley Richards triangle logo toward breech. The Mauser action is marked with SN “40864” and “W.R.318 ACCELERATED EXPRESS.” The bolt handle has British proofs. The floorplate and trigger guard are standard military type and trigger is usual dbl pull. The plain straight grain European walnut full pistol grip stock with horn cap measures 14-3/4″ over a steel trap buttplate. Stock has swivel eye and vacant silver oval. Forend has a horn tip and rifle is checkered in standard point pattern. CONDITION: The Medford rifled bore is strong but dark throughout its length. Bbls and action have 90% orig blue. Stock shows 85% of its orig varnish with numerous handling marks and dings. Extractor housing shows about 70% of its bright blue. 4-31934 MGM22 (3,000-5,000)
