CASED SMITH & WESSON MODEL 320 REVOLVING RIFLE. Cal. 320. Blued finish, 20” keyhole ribbed bbl, nickeled Rocky Mountain front sight and two-position V-notch rear sight mounted on the rib. Forearm and 2-pc monogrammed grips are red and black mottled hard rubber. Grip frame is cut for a shoulder stock, which accompanies. Stock iron with blued finish, nicely grained walnut buttstock and checkered monogrammed hard rubber buttplate. Top of the iron has the hole for the tang sight which has the large head filler screw installed. Also, accompanied by is an original rear peep sight and the original brown cloth covered felt-lined, brass cornered, hinged lid, carrying case. 1 of only 977 of the total production of which only 224 were made with 20” bbls. SN 498. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains about 95% strong original bright blue with scattered light surface rust and some light pitting. Frame retains about 90% original blue, thin on the right side and lightly flaked on the left side. It has a couple of battered screws. Cylinder has traces of blue in the flutes, otherwise is a gray metal color with light pitting. Forearms and grips are fine showing a little light wear. Bore is strong with some shine and moderate to heavy pitting. Numbers are all matching except the grips and the stock which are unnumbered. Good mechanics, no half-cock notch and the cylinder stop does not engage with hammer down. Stock iron retains about 95% bright original blue with light surface rust. Wood is sound and retains most of its original varnish. Buttplate shows moderate wear and fading on one edge. Peep sight retains about 50% original blue. Case is missing part of its straps and has slight losses at the right end, otherwise appears intact with moderate wear and soiling inside and outside.
