SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL #3 LARGE FRAME REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Russian. Blued finish, 6-1/2” keyhole ribbed bbl, composite revolver having 2-pc diamond checkered walnut grips. Grip frame is cut for shoulder stock with a tapered round hole at the top of the backstrap and a small slot in the butt. SN 12141. CONDITION: Good to very good as noted. Cylinder is numbered 33579, bbl and latch are numbered 30922and the grips are numbered 15377. Frame retains about 80% thinning original blue, bbl 15-20% blue in the sheltered areas and the cylinder traces of blue in the flutes with the balances being a medium gray-blue patina. Hammer retains 50-60% good case colors and the trigger guard about 15% with the rest turned silver. Grips show moderate to heavy wear. Bore is bright and shiny with some scattered pitting near the forcing cone. Cylinder stop does not lock up at full cock, otherwise action is fine. 4-48002 JR97 (Anderson Collection) (800-1,500)
