STEUBEN AFRICAN SCULPTURE. Very rare elaborately wheelcarved pattern depicts African maiden with elephant headdress sitting on top of a crocodile with a lion in the background. All engraved in a flawless crystal oval. Designed by Don Wier and Lloyd Atkins in 1962. The piece is a part of a series of four. Oval comes resting on a heavy gold metal base and is complete with red leather presentation case. Pictured on pg. 303 of the new Madigan book “Steuben Glass: An American Tradition in Crystal”.
