*FABULOUS WINSTON CHURCHILL STOCKED WEATHERBY MARK V LEFT HANDED BOLT ACTION RIFLE. SN P49924. Cal. 300 WBY. 24″ bbl without sights. Early mark V left handed action with bolt release on right side, five panel checkered bolt and detachable scope bases, stocked with exhibition grade walnut with black 90 degree forend tip, Fleur De Lis checkered forend, Fleur De Lis checkered pistol grip with metal foliate arabesque engraved grip cap and gold wire border, 13-3/4″ over solid brown Old English pad. Cheek piece on right side, sling swivel studs, and a gold oval initial plate engraved, “D.E.P.” It’s been reported to us this is one of the very few stocks ever done by Winston Churchill, and was for his friend and benefactor Dave Peltz, long time editor of Field & Stream. CONDITION: Extremely fine. There are a few very minor handling marks on gun, and one needs to look quite hard to find them. The metal bluing is near perfect, and the exquisite hand rubbed oil finish shows no wear. 4-32012 BDT167 (4,000-7,000)
