ATHANAS SCHELOUMOFF (Russian, 1912-1976) THE WELCOMED VISITORS. Unframed oil on canvas scene shows a three-horse carriage with two men visiting a home with several people at well. Two women in colorful dress converse with man wearing military cap, buggy whip and dog looking on. Gentleman rides in carriage with overcoat while another farmer in a three-horse hay wagon is behind. The long thatched roof house has chimney and green shutters. All seen under a lightly cloudy and blue sky. Signed lower right “A. Scheloumoff”. SIZE: 17-1/4” x 23-1/2”. CONDITION: Original canvas is very dirty and will brighten up substantially with cleaning. Otherwise very good. 9-97436 (800-1,200)
