*GRIFFIN & HOWE ENGRAVED BY CHURCHILL WINCHESTER MODEL 70 CUSTOM BOLT ACTION RIFLE. SN 351957. Cal. 243 WIN. 24″ bbl with banded, ramped, and hooded front sight. With fine stippled ramp, and surrounded by fine foliate arabesque scroll. Middle of bbl is engraved, “No. 2326 Griffin & Howe INC. New York.” Chamber area has a design foliate arabesque scroll and is engraved on left side, “.243 Winchester.” Receiver is a standard pre 64 Winchester model 70, with jeweled bolt and follower, five paneled checkered bolt handle, with slightly reshaped rear tang, and engraved base of a Lyman 48 peep sight. Topped with a Leupold M8 6x scope with engraved lever detachable rings. Floor plate has majestic gold inlaid bull moose in oval in a forested scene, the balance is of a wonderful foliate arabesque scroll. The trigger guard is engraved with a floral bouquet surrounded by foliate arabesque scroll. Stock and classic Griffin & Howe pattern with streaky walnut, 90 degree forend tip, checkered forend, checkered pistol grip with foliate arabesque scroll engraved grip cap, left side cheek piece, checkered steel butt plate with trap holding the slide for the 48 Lyman sight, matching sling swivel studs, and blank gold oval. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bluing on metal parts are 97-98% with only a few very slight marks. Stock is sound with just minor usual light handling marks, and retains virtually all of it’s fine custom finish. 4-32016 BDT169 (7,500-12,500)
