*SPECTACULAR CUSTOM WINCHESTER MODEL 70 BOLT ACTION RIFLE BY WINSTON CHURCHILL & JERRY FISHER. SN NSN. Cal. 270. Fabulous custom Model 70 by Jerry Fisher with 24″ tapered sporter weight bbl made without sights. Receiver has Buehler bases & rings containing a Leupold M8-4X scope. Mounted in very highly figured marblecake, honey & chocolate French or circassian walnut with rosewood forend tip and metal grip cap. Forestock & wrist are wonderfully checkered with ribbon & fleur-de-lis carving with a deep classic shadow cheek piece & straight comb, 14″ over a checkered skeleton buttplate. Forestock & bottom of stock have custom sling swivel bases with the rear base in a raised panel. It has a custom trigger guard & floorplate that are spectacularly engraved and signed by Winston Churchill with the central figure being a deep relief raised gold Dall ram’s head surrounded by spectacular foliate patterns that blend into the shaded background. Trigger guard, grip cap, buttplate, sling swivel bases, sides of receiver & a pattern over chamber area of bbl are engraved to match. Trigger guard, floorplate & grip cap are French gray finished. Bottom of stock has a small gold inlaid oval also engraved by Mr. Churchill with the bust of a Bighorn Sheep and the name “L. MILLER” in a ribbon at bottom. This engraving is also executed in exquisite detail. Accompanied by a fine Huey green suede lined oak & leather trunk case with orig canvas cover compartmented in bottom for rifle, two ebony handled turn screws, a brush and a 3-pc brass & ebony cleaning rod. There are also a gold plated rnd oil bottle & brass striker box with four covered compartments. Also accompanied by seven pages of correspondence with the Buffalo Bill Historical Center loaning this rifle in 1996 and removing it from loan in 2006. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, as new, unfired. Retains virtually all of its fine Jerry Fisher custom finish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore, crisp optics. Huey case is equally new. 4-32015 JR200 (10,000-15,000)
