RARE WHALE BONE PRACTICE BAYONET. This socket bayonet for a Model 1816 musket has a metal socket and a 3″ stub with screw to hold the 17″ whalebone blade. A 1-5/8″ leather ball is wired to the tip for contact. The number “1 / 65 / 6” is at the front of the socket and “80” is at the rear. CONDITION: Excellent. 90% original brown on the socket. Whalebone has slight insect damage and some delimitation at the base. Lleather ball has flaked to, or was originally, buff. 4-53163 FS282 (500-1,000)
