IMPORTANT PIERCED LAMINATED ROSEWOOD SOFA IN THE “TUTHILL KING” PATTERN ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN HENRY BELTER, NYC. High back sofa has three tall crests with cornucopia of flowers ending in grape clusters. Curved scroll decoration with grape leaves, clusters, and acorns. Serpentine front with carved rose decoration. Short French style cabriole legs supported by brass caster feet. Upholstered in red brocade flower decorated material with tufted back. Reference pictured page 123 “American Furniture of the 19th Century” 1840-1880 by Richard and Eileen Dubrow. SIZE: 47 1/4″h x 77″w x 33″d (total). CONDITION: Remarkably fine condition with old repairs to back of side crests which may or may not have been done at the time of manufacture. 14-121 (10,000-20,000)
