CONVERTED DERINGER MODEL 1817 RIFLE. Cal 58. NSN. 35-7/8″ rnd bbl. marked “US/DERINGER/PHILADEL’A” on the lockplate in front of the hammer. A partially visible inspector mark remains on the upper left part of the bbl. The lockplate has plugged holes for the pan and frizzen spring. A large bolster has been installed on the right side of the bbl. The rear bbl sight has one folding leaf with two sighting positions. The front sling swivel is missing. CONDITION: Gray patina overall with light pitting except at breech where it is heavy. Stock has been cracked, repaired and refinished in front of the lockplate.
