WELLS FARGO MARKED SMITH & WESSON SCHOFIELD REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Schofield. First model Schofield with barrel cut to 5-1/16” marked on the right side of the ejector housing “W.F.& CO. EX. 443” with a large “S” at the front end. The butt has a lanyard stud hold through the serial number leaving only the last digit visible which is a “3”. The bbl, latch and cylinder are all numbered “443”, the grips are numbered to another revolver. Accompanied by a russet brown leather flap holster, marked on the flap “E.S.CO./SEATTLE” with a zinc snap marked the same. The back edge of the holster and edges of the flap are lightly roll decorated. The top front edge of the holster is stamped, very lightly, with a small round impressed mark “W. F. & CO. EX.” SN 443. CONDITION: Good, retains about 50% of an old reblue with traces of nickel under the grips, it has a strong dark bore with scattered pitting, mechanics are fine. The grips are dark with a hand rubbed patina and there is a stress crack inside the left grip. The holster is very fine, retains 92-93% original bright finish with some deep cracking at the flap bend and front edge of the holster. A very fine and scarce holster. 4-48925 JR717 (3,500-5,000)
