SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1795 MUSKET. Cal. 69. NSN. 40” rnd bbl. “Marked “US / eagle / SPRINGFIELD” in a downward arc in front of cock, dated “10” horizontally at rear of lockplate. Dated 1811 on tang of buttplate. Standard proof marks on left rear of bbl. Welded sling swivels. Bbl has been shortened, and bayonet lug moved to top of bbl, although it is now missing. Slot is 1-3/8” from muzzle. “T” assembly marks on internal lock parts, including integral pan, and frizzen spring screw, “o” mark on spur of hammer. None visible on frizzen. Ramrod is a replacement. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina overall with scattered light pitting. Stock has numerous chips and dents and has been revarnished. Mechanically good. Edwards Collection 4-58422 (1,500-2,500)
