GROUP OF 5 CARVED CHINESE ARTICLES. Including a pair of carved and gilt-decorated floral panels; a carved Chinese royal figure polychrome-decorated and lacquered, seated on a throne raised on a plinth; a carved crowned bust, the head with crown carved from an amber-like substance, the torso carved from a hard wood; and a small lacquered box applied with a fanciful carved foo dog handle. SIZE: As noted above. PROVENANCE: There items were acquired on mainland China in the 1930’s by a visiting professor. CONDITION: The panels are in very good original condition; size of largest: 5-1/4″ x 9″. The seated figure with old structural damages and substantial paint and lacquer loss, 9-1/2″ h. The bust with damage to crown and at neckline, 6-1/2″ h. Box with worn lacquer, carved handle with some damages and losses, 3″ h. x 7″ l. x 5-1/2″ d. 9-92248 (400-600)
