*LOT OF 2 SMITH & WESSON DOUBLE ACTION LARGE FRAME REVOLVERS. 1) First Model, Cal. 44 Russian, nickel finish, 6” bbl, 2-pc monogrammed hard rubber grips. Left side of the grip frame marked with a small star and the date “9 59” indicating factory refinish on that date. SN 40570. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains about all of its factory re-nickel under a coating of old oil, modified front sight and worn grips. All matching except the grips which are unnumbered. Strong dark bore, action will not hold at full cock, otherwise mechanics are fine. Grips show heavy wear. 2) *Model 38 with 5” bbl, 2-pc hard rubber grips. Scarce model, only 276 produced. SN 84. CONDITION: Poor. Heavily worn, no finish remains, replaced screws, smooth grips, bore is strong and bright with moderate pitting, extractor does not work and will not hold on full cock, both grips are broken. 4-47982, 4-47983 JR133 (Anderson Collection) (1,000-2,000)
