MARTIN BROS. FIGURAL TOBACCO JAR. Extremely rare, large size Martin Bros. figure is in the form of an amusing bird appearing to be sternly lecturing someone or something. The semi-gloss glaze is done in shades of beige, brown and okra with touches of blue in the wings and tail feathers. The bird is attached to the original ebonized wooden base. Marked on the rim of the head “R.W. Martin & Bro. London & Southall 3-1887”. The base is marked on the foot rim “R. W. Martin & Bro. London & Southall”. SIZE: Overall 11” t. CONDITION: 1” firing separation to inside neck collar. 3-1/2” very tight hairline from mid-back of body into the wing, most likely from mfg. Otherwise very good to excellent. 5-63760 (25,000-35,000)
