ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN H. BEARD (American, 19th Century) THE ONCOMING SAILBOAT. Oil on canvas scene shows a one mast sailboat approaching a wood pylon dock with three people atop. The water is at low tide and a small row boat is dry on sand. A cleared hillside is seen under gray skies. Signed center bottom “BEARD 88”. Housed in its original gesso decorated antique frame. On reverse of stretcher is an A. A. Walker & Co. Framing label. SIZE: 12” x 16”. CONDITION: Four areas of paint loss and canvas showing, otherwise good. Surface dirt. 9-90269 SM (1,500-2,000)
