CAST BRONZE ORIENTAL TABLE SHRINE. An allegorical scene depicting a deity seated on a throne in judgment looking down upon ten robed figures standing on either side of descending steps. In the center of the tableau is seated a mythological figure with bowed head and trussed hands, flanked by a robed figure with dagger and a second figure with manuscript, all before an open-roofed shrine surmounted by a dragon figure. The sides of the shrine are cast with various fanciful individuals and creatures, each with a different weapon or implement. The whole raised on a plinth with bracket feet. This statue has age beyond one hundred years. SIZE: Dimensions of statue: 10-1/4″ h. x 5-3/4″ w. x 5-1/4″ d. PROVENANCE: This statue was acquired on mainland China in the 1930’s by a visiting professor. CONDITION: In good condition with original surface and good patina.
