I. J. TURLYGIN (Russian, 20th Century) TOASTING WITH THE TEA. Authorized copy of the famous Boris Kustodiev (Russian, 1878-1927) painting. Large oil on canvas interior scene shows a group of seven coachmen all in blue robes meeting at their favorite spot, taking a break and sipping tea. The tea house is busy serving tea in a red interior decorated with birdcages, painting and well stocked shelves. Unsigned front but back of canvas with inscription in Russian. Housed in a gilt reeded wood frame. This painting is an authorized copy of the work approved by the Tretyuakov Gallery, Moscow State Museum, “approved for release to dignitaries”. This painting was painted in the 1980’s and the back carries Moscow Authentication stamps. SIZE: 39-1/2″ x 51-1/2″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-92615 (1,200-1,800)
