I. J. TURLYGIN (Russian, 20th Century) THE SLEIGH RIDE. Authorized copy of the famous Boris Kustodiev (Russian, 1878-1927) painting. Large oil on canvas winter scene shows a snow draped cityscape with a small carnival and people on sleighs and sledding. Colorful sky with flocks of birds is over a city with colorful churches. Unsigned front but appears to be signed, dated and inscribed on reverse of canvas in Russian. Housed in a modern molded wood stained frame. This painting is an authorized copy of the work approved by the Tretyuakov Gallery, Moscow State Museum, “approved for release to dignitaries”. This painting was painted in the 1980’s and the back carries Moscow Authentication stamps. SIZE: 25-1/2″ x 51-1/2″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-92614 (1,200-1,800)
