ENGRAVED SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1 THIRD ISSUE TIP UP REVOLVER. Cal. 22 Short. Nickel finish, 3-3/16” ribbed round bbl, bird head 2-pc ivory grips. This fine little revolver has about 60% coverage fine New York style engraving with foliate arabesque patterns on the frame with punched dot background. Bbl has arabesque and dot patterns with foliate patterns on the cylinder between the flutes. SN 111365. CONDITION: Fair to good. All matching except the grips, which are unnumbered and possibly the cylinder, whose number can not be read. Overall retains 60-70% nickel, strong and bright on the right side and dull on the left side. Cylinder retains about 30% nickel with the balance a dull metal color. Grips are chipped at the bottom with age lines and a fine aged yellow color. Poor bore and loose mechanics. 4-48063 JR167 (Anderson Collection) (400-700)
