EMILE R. BEAULIEU (American, Mid 19th Century) NEW YORK HARBOR SCENE. Oil on canvas marine seascape shows a sailboat with a “4” on its back sail going towards a large three-mast ship with sails down. Other ships include a sailing yacht, another tall ship and side-wheel boat. A barrel buoy is seen in foreground with seagulls and a low bluff of land is seen in distance. Signed lower right “Beaulieu NY 59”. Beaulieu is listed in the Dictionary of Marine Artists and was active from 1850-1862 and exhibited at the National Academy of Design. Housed in a fine gilt gesso decorated frame with inner gilt liner. SIZE: 14” x 20”. CONDITION: Relined, restored with inpainting, very good. 9-28452 (5000-7000)
