EARLIEST PERIOD E.J. JUMEAU BEBE DOLL. Fresh to the market from a very old doll collection. This highly desirable early Jumeau with head incised “8 (over) EJ” and a blue stamp on torso reading “Jumeau Medaille d’or Paris”. This doll has lovely blue paperweight eyes, closed mouth, applied ears and is on her original body with eight separate ball joints, straight wrists and the desirable oversized hands. She has been well re-costumed in a burgundy silk dress which is a copy of an original Jumeau factory dress of the period. The wig is newer blond mohair over original cork pate and although slightly later than the doll, she does wear factory Jumeau shoes stamped “11 Paris Depose”. SIZE: 22″ (55cm). CONDITION: Overall very good with minor flake at left earring hole with some wear and possible late repaint to hands. 1-8425 RS (6,000-8,000)
