SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1 FIRST ISSUE 4TH TYPE REVOLVER. Cal. 22 Short. Nickel finish, 3-3/16” ribbed oct ribbed bbl and square butt, 2-pc rosewood grips. Recoil shield is fixed to the frame with the pivoting center. SN 3579. CONDITION: About good. All matching except the cylinder which is pitted too severely on the front to see. Bbl and frame retain about 85% of an old re-nickel with the balance a dark patina. Right grip has a large repair at the toe and the left a crack with filled areas. Bore is dark and pitted. Cylinder is a dark brown patina with no patent line visible. Trigger return spring is weak, cylinder is loose. 4-48039 JR158 (Anderson Collection) (500-1,000)
