GEORGE II SILVER FOOTED SALVER. William Peaston, London, 1747. Circular Chippendale salver having a shell and scroll raised rim. Central area engraved with a large coat of arms having a Knight in armor and a rampant horse flanking a crowned reserve with the motto “NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT EX BENE MERTTO” (“Engraved with the motto of Scotland and the Order of the Thistle”). Central round area showing a spread winged eagle encompassing a shield against a stippled background. The salver raised on four large scrolled feet. Bottom has two armorial crests, one of a Knights arm holding a broken spear, the other with a spread winged dragon perched on a flaming bowl. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection (FW Woolworth Dept.
