GUTTA PERCHA CASE FOR SMITH & WESSON FIRST MODEL TIP UP REVOLVER. Brown Gutta Percha, hinged lid box, 7-15/16” long x 4-1/16”w x 1-7/16” thick. The lid embossed with eagle and foliate patterns in the corners with tiny little revolvers on the top and bottom in between. The center has a raised first model revolver and the legend “MANUFACTURED ONLY BY/SMITH &WESSON/SPRINGFIELD MASSACHUSETTS”. Bottom has a border of tiny revolvers. Interior is beautiful burgundy velvet with a cut decorative pattern in the lid and a cartridge block in the bottom with a bbl rest and a small divider. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Retains virtually all it original finish outside with only minor wear and a few very tiny edge chips. There is a small crack in the bottom front corner. The hinges and hinge area are fine. Velvet lining shows the impression of a revolver cylinder in the lid and in the bottom, but retains most of its fine dark color.
