GEORGE I SILVER TWO HANDLED CUP. Joseph Barbitt, London, 1720. The large cup having a circular molded foot. The lower half of the body decorated with alternating palm leaves and straps with a molded central rib above. Two S-scrolled handles. The side engraved with a coat of arms in a baroque cartouche incorporating shells, acanthus scroll work, birds and recumbent lions. Hallmarks to base including a Britannia Standard mark. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection (FW Woolworth Dept. Store). WEIGHT: 51 tr. oz. SIZE: 7-1/4” h x 10-1/2” maximum width including handles. CONDITION: Very good. 9-29509 (3,000-5,000)
