*RARE CASED BROWNING CENTENNIAL CONTINENTAL 2BBL SET. SN 1878C-92. Cal. 20ga/.30-06. Shotgun bbls are 26-1/2″ vent rib with sgl brass sighting bead, choked MOD/FULL. Rifle bbls are 24″ with pedestal ramp front with fine brass bead, rear is island mounted u-notched flip-up sight. The highly embellished French gray receiver has a gold inlaid bedded bull elk in a forested scene on left side, a silhouette bust of John Browning “1878-1978” and “Browning Centennial” engraved on bottom, and a gold inlaid flying quail in foliate scene on right. This fine work is signed by master engraver “F. Marechal.” Mounted in fancy dark walnut with long tang checkered straight grip, gold sgl trigger, and 14-1/8″ over Browning hard rubber buttplate. Both bbl sets are equipped with their own fully checkered Schnable fore end. Reportedly only a few hundred of these sets were produced. This gun is accompanied with its orig Browning box and outer shipping box and Browning wooden display case, also with its outer shipping box. Bore diameter: top -.622, bottom -.619. Bore restrictions: top -.023, bottom -.012. Wall thickness: top -.034, bottom -.039. Drop at heel: 1-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/4″. Weight:5lbs. 14oz. Second set rifled. CONDITION: Extremely fine. As new, probably test fired only. Bbls retain 98-99% orig blue with just the very slightest handling marks. Receiver is crisp and sharp. Stocks are sound with virtually all of their orig oil finish and a couple light handling marks on rear of right side and raised panel on right side. This appears to be virtually a new, unused firearm. Box and wooden case are in basically as shipped condition. 4-33279 BDT74 (12,500-17,500)
