PAUL JEAN BAPTISTE LAZERGES (French, 1845-1902) THE DESERT CARAVAN. Oil on canvas middle eastern scene shows a camel caravan traveling right to left across a baren desert. Several caravans with colorful saddle bags stride under bright blue skies with dust being kicked up by the lead group. Three men in traditional Arab costume hold guns at the ready. Signed lower left “Paul Lazerges”. Housed in what appears to be its original gesso decorated gilt frame behind glass. SIZE: 12-1/4″ x 20-3/4″. CONDITION: Very dirty, appears to be untouched. 9-92648 (15,000-25,000)
