CHARLES II SILVER PLAIN EWER. C. M., London, 1674. Beaker shaped bowl with rising curved spout and scroll handle surmounted by a stud finial. Flaring circular base with molded border. The side engraved with a coat of arms flanked by crossed plumes. NOTE: Woolworth records indicate that the Arms are those of Menzies impaling Campbell, quartering Lorn and Stewart for Sir Alexander Menzies of Castle Menzies, created a baronet in 1665, who marries Agnes, eldest daughter of Sir John Campbell of Glenorchy. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection (FW Woolworth Dept. Store). WEIGHT: 16 tr. oz. SIZE: 7-1/2” h. CONDITION: Generally very good. There appears to be a repair at both intersections of the handle and possibly work at the joint of the base of the body. 9-29505 (4,000-8,000)
