SMITH & WESSON MODEL 1 SECOND ISSUE 2ND QUALITY REVOLVER. Cal. 22 Short. Silver and blued finish, 3-3/16” oct ribbed bbl with square butt and 2-pc rosewood grips. Both sides of the bbl lug are stamped “2D QUALITY”. This revolver was produced in 1866 and is 1 of the total produced of only 4,402 second quality pieces of which 302 were sold that year. SN 99166. CONDITION: Good, all matching including the grips. Frame retains 96-98% original silver. Bbl with traces of original blue except the ejector pin which retains about 70% blue. Most of the bbl is a silver brown patina with fine surface pitting. The screws are battered and the frame has some porosity on the right side, which is probably what caused it to be a 2nd quality. Cylinder is a dark brown patina with patent line complete visible. Bore is dark and pitted, mechanics are fine. 4-48080 JR164 (Anderson Collection) (1,000-2,000)
