JAMES GAYLE TYLER (American, 1855-1931) OUT OF THE SQUALL. Outstanding oil on canvas seascape shows a three-mast ship easing out of an ocean squall into lightening skies. Foreground shows a large wave crashing over large rocks with signal marker. Ocean is shown in light green with white wave tips. Signed lower right “James G. Tyler”. Housed in a magnificent period leaf decorated gilt gesso frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 18” x 30”. CONDITION: Relined, one restored spot with inpainting in sky.
