P. POST UNDERHAMMER PERCUSSION PISTOL. Cal. about 50 Smoothbore. NSN. Dainty little pistol with 9-1/4″ rnd bbl with long top & bottom tangs. The top flat has the maker’s name “P. POST N.Y. B.C. WOOD”. It has fixed sights with 1-pc nicely figured rnd walnut grip with engraved brass oval buttplate. The trigger guard serves as the hammer spring. It has an iron guide on the bottom of the bbl with a long nose-pipe containing a replacement ramrod. CONDITION: Fine, light, silver/brown patina on all the metal except the trigger guard, which retains a dark blue patina with a few spots of light rust, possibly an old replacement. Stock is sound and retains most of its orig varnish. Mechanics are fine, good bore. 4-53959 JR453 (500-800)
