PAULING (American 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN. Oval oil on canvas three quarter portrait of a woman seated in a Victorian carved chair. She wears a black dress with lace cuffs and lace bonnet. An interior scene having a stand with two books and she holds a pair of spectacles in her hand. The books may denote that she is an author or poet. There is a Pauling listed from Albany, NY. It is signed lower left “Pauling 1871”. Housed in its original fancy rectangular frame with oval window. SIZE: 22-1/2” x 17”.
