Cal. 400/360 2-3/4.” 26″ chopper lump bbls with full length rib, one standing two-folding leaf express sight, dolls head extension, and third fastener; there is also a sling eye on the bottom of bbl. It is marked on left bbl “William Evans(from Purdey’s) 400/360. 2-3/4” “solid metal case” The right bbl is marked “63 Paul Mall. ST. James’s, London.” “40.GRS cordite powder.” .300 GRS soft nose nickel bullet. Action flats are marked with appropriate British proofs and the SN 8574. The box lock action has approx 50% coverage of English scroll engraving and both sides are marked “William Evans.” Rifle has double triggers and automatic safety with “safe” inlaid in gold. The slightly figured European walnut stock measures 14-5/8″ over silvers type pad and has a newer sling swivel installed. The splinter forend has lever release. CONDITION: Action is slightly loose, and ejectors are in time. Safety is a bit sticky. Bbl show most of a reblack with the engraving slightly distorted from polishing. There are some pits that were not struck out on the exterior. Bores are strong with some erosion in the throats and are quite good toward muzzles. Action is silver and shows many dents, dings, and scratches from hard use. Floor plate is replaced as is the trigger guard. Butt stock appears to be a good replacement. Forend has checkering worn almost smooth. 4-32033 (4,000-6,000)
